Bruce,
I see that Gurdjieff has influenced your ideas. Can you talk a little about where his ideas fit into your present position and are you a member of a Fourth Way group?
If you have a blog piece that explains this you can link to it or feel free to start another thread in one of the other forums here since this might not be just about the ufo enigma. I'd would enjoy exploring Gurdjieff's ides and ontology/metaphysics in general with you.
"The time has come", the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes and ships and sealing wax
Of cabbages and kings
And why the sea is boiling hot
And whether pigs have wings."
ps: I think you might like this link to Gebser's philosophy.

Big questions...a separate thread seems like a good idea...My introduction to Gurdjieff 's teachings are two fold. I entered this like many through Ouspensky's writing and then corresponded with Olga DeHartman who lived in New York City at the time, who wrote "Our Life With Mr Gurdjieff." There is a very good book irritatingly called Cosmic Secrets (ugh) by Russell Smith that contains the Pythagorean Math associated with a lot of my considerations toward sound as energy etc.Its more "clear cut" I am a strong adherent to primary sources so while I never joined a formally organized authorized group, we had some years ago, a small informal group. I am very leery of propagating publicly these concepts as it is neither easy or "spoon fed"...it has to be lived as well to an extent in order to "self verify" certain principles.
As far as where they fit into Ufology, rather than rewrite the book, a good place to see where I am coming from is Rodney Collin's Theory of Celestial Influences which details the above in relation to many aspects of this phenomenon, at least for me....it's a hard book to find but it is so full of fascinating concepts I have just about worn out my copy.
Theory of Celestial Influence
Hamlet's Mill is another good book regarding legominisms...if you are familiar with that term....I am not trying to be evasive but as Gurdjieff said 'You have to know a great deal to know very little...." and it's difficult to condense without distorting it....at least it is for me.

I'll have to order a copy of both Hamlet's Mill and Celestial Influences. Actually I have been meaning to read one of Collin's books but never got around to it.
I have read Tertium Organum and In Search of the Miraculous by Ouspensky's , two by Gurdjieff ,as well as several by Bennett. I have found the Fourth Way ideas to be very intriguing ..but Vedic, Buddhist, and Taoist thought seems to resonate better with my mind.
If you would lke to start a thread in the Religion forum about Gurdjieff''s ideas or any other related idea please do so.
Until one realizes they are in prison no escape is possible.
"There do exist enquiring minds, which long for the truth of the heart, seek it, strive to solve the problems set by life, try to penetrate to the essence of things and phenomena and to penetrate into themselves. If a man reasons and thinks soundly, no matter which path he follows in solving these problems, he must inevitably arrive back at himself, and begin with the solution of the problem of what he is himself and what his place is in the world around him.”
