I know that this isn't actually on topic, but I just had to share this with everyone. I will definitely be going to see this in December!
A remake? Or a sequel? Anyway, Keanu Reeves as Klaatu should be interesting. I couldn't embed this High Definition teaser trailer, so here's the link:
Apple Trailers_The Day The Earth Stood Still
This requires the Quicktime video player.
Or you can watch this lower definition trailer:

Nice find, Hopo. I wasn't even aware that a remake (or re-imagining) of the 1951 classic was in the works. It certainly does appear to be another CGI-driven action movie - a far cry from the quiet, thoughtful original. I always thought the original film cast Klaatu as almost a Christ figure - dying then resurrecting but showing the humans the way to survival. That plot line may be a little too pat for today's audiences but it will be interesting to see what they can do with it.

| Ut Oh,I just watched that trailer, and that had best not be Yankee Stadium they zapped.Just watching the trailer you can bet that that gentle original movie with its limited violence is now going to be turned into a knock down drag out.But hey Dec 12th will put us right in the middle of winter, what better time to go to the movies.

Heh....do you honestly think Keanu is the right guy for a sophisticated alien part like Klaatu as played by Michael Rennie? It requires someone older at the very least and certainly a better actor than Reeves...imho. _________________ "Some say the valley has always been haunted ever since River ran.

Perhaps he will reprise his character from Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure!

I like Keanu also...but in silly comedy or action flms, not in this part. He is not the right man for it. _________________ "Some say the valley has always been haunted ever since River ran.

Keanu sucks. He can play goofy surfer and wife-beating drunk. THE END. The second he tries to be "normal serious" it's over. This will suck. I am sad. _________________ http://www.cultureofcontact.com is LAUNCHED!

Someone like Clive Owen or Ed Norton would be perfect. _________________ "Some say the valley has always been haunted ever since River ran.
