Server Maintenance causing problems

Yes, we know that things on the board have been an absolute mess this afternoon. I am in contact with the hosting service and hopefully they are wrapping up their maintenance work.

People have been clamoring to move the site to another hosting service and we are seriously considering this. We were hoping to avoid going to a paid hosting service simply because we don't carry any advertising and we certainly don't want to make this a subscriber site. Still, we will do what we have to do to keep our posters happy.

I will keep you posted on our progress.

OK - I have had enough. I am going to seriously look into moving the pages - sooner rather than later. Thanks for your patience but I think we've all suffered enough with this nonsense.

I'll get some further details tonight and start the process as soon as I am sure we can do so safely without losing posts and such. Stand by for more info.

Now Iam unable to access the last page of posts on certain threads...it says there is no post for this topic.
In all the years on forums this has been one of the worse servers.

Hi all,

two or three days ago I have lost a middle long post - for nothing! Afterwards the board wouldn't have allowed me to login again. Glad to hear there are regular severe problems on board, though I'm not not happy about this, but I had almost considered, that Skeptical wouldn't have wanted me here no longer.

Folks, I am looking right now into where we can safely move the forum. This is not nearly as easy a task as I would have guessed. It seems that for every hosting service, there are several sites saying how awful they are. It is extremely confusing and frustrating (although not nearly as frustrating as the problems we've all experienced for the last week).

I want to make sure that when we move, we take our history with us. There's just too many good posts to lose. I am also looking for a place that won't cost us an arm and a leg. Most places run about 7 bucks a month. I know several of you have express a willingness to support the cause - I'm just trying to be a good steward of our funds here and get us someplace where we can stay and be happy.

For the life of me, I just can't figure out how these guys from freeforums.org can have as much trouble as they do. They start out with good intentions - adding servers, adding RAM - but it just turns into an epic fiasco. Some of their techs seem clueless to me but you would think they have a few people who could do their maintenance without crashing dozens of forums.

I appreciate your patience. Please try not to hate on poor Skeppie. He's doing the best he can.

Hmmmm maybe there is a new conspiracy out there....sabotaging message boards!!! Someone should alert the media.
I would also like to see all the political candidates address this latest conspiracy and learn how they are going to handle it if elected!!!

Hi Skeptical and Dr.Wu and all my other friends,

I don't want to come around with lame excuses explaining why I haven't been here regularly in the last weeks and I already announce this won't become better anytime soon as I'm just expecting reltives from Italy and the US who will be going to stay in my house for a time. Be sure, that it nothing to do with that I wouldn't want to be here.
