I'm not sure how personality traits could be imprinted on our cells.
That would mean we were born with our likes, dislikes, preferences, etc. already preset.
What effect would environment play then?? _________________ "It's our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."

| I don't think it's arguing the case for any kind of predestination as such Scam, rather that as our memories/personality traits etc develop they may be leaving some kind of trace memory at a cellular level. I remember reading somewhere the idea that the brain may not be the sole repository for things such as memory and that the whole central nervous system plays a part in all this. Don't quote me because I cannot remember exactly where I read it but it was a theory being mooted as regards cases such as these.

Oh, ok that makes more sense.
That could be what causes ghost pictures or apparitions.
If our memories are somehow imprinted on our cellular system then those "images" might also linger after death. Perhaps they somehow become a part of a collective consciousness that some people are able to access.
Interesting theory. _________________ "It's our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."

Until they come up with an actual mechanism I say it's hogwash.

| I wouldn't say hogwash. Not verified maybe but enough stories admittedly mostly anecdotal to warrant some serious thought.

| I think the theory behind it could well explain some ghost sightings, especially the cyclical type like grey ladies etc. It's similar to the stone tape theory but this one posits that water may hold the memory of the event and certain conditions may activate it. Something similar has been researched regarding homeapathy whereby the homeopathic element is placed in water then filtered out endlessly to the point of being non existant yet the water seems to hold some type of imprint of the it.

Homeopathy was what came to my mind too. I don't know that I put much stock in it but it's hard to say what is happening at subatomic or quantum levels. There may be mechanisms at work which, as of yet, we are unable to detect or measure.
I've always though that some apparitions do have features in common with a video loop. No intelligence associated with it - just the same scene being played out time after time. That would seem to indicate an electrochemical or electromagnetic process of some type - but I can't even venture a guess as to how it might work.
