Found this link on C2C, a Comet named Holmes has been tracked and has suddenly in a period of 24 hours, increased it's brightness by a factor of 400,000 times.

I think I would keep an eye on this sucker, it worries me because I don't like surprises in the heavens as we approach 2012....
