I would like to thank Skeptical for his invitation to Department 47. It looks an interesting place to be, and the forums are much quicker loading than the one he invited me from!
My main interests for these forums are Ufology, and Cryptozoology. I'm leaning towards believing that the former is possible ( i.e. ET is visiting ), but generally skeptical about most of the latter ( i.e. Bigfoot, Nessie, and Mokele-mbembe ), so I expect I'll be having some great debates here.
I look forward to the many discussions that will take place here.

Welcome to the board and we are looking forward to your input.
Personally I love all things British (well..almost all things..) so the more Brits here the better.

Hey HopoUK
Welcome to the mix. I tend to agree with your position on the cryptozological creatures for the most part. However, I do suspect Bigfoot just might turn out to be a real creature. Kind of reminds me of the fact that at one time the Panda was thought to be a figment of the imaginations of those "crazies" who were bold enough to report having seen such creatures. _________________ Gary Val Tenuta

Thanks for the welcoming comittee, very much appreciated.
Code-9, I know where you are coming from, and I must admit that out of the 3 cryptids I mentioned, Bigfoot is more plausible than the other 2. The problem is that seeing is believing. Obviously, living in the UK, the possibility of coming across a Bigfoot is nigh on impossible. That's why I believe that ET is out there, having had an experience with a UFO in 1984.
Now with Bigfoot the only evidence that comes close to proving it's existence is the Patterson film, but I have my qualms about that. I can't help thinking that a lot of Bigfoot sightings boils down to Bears, general mistaken identity, or hoaxes. I'm more inclined to believe that the Tasmanian Tiger is still with us, than a 7ft apeman.
Until I see evidence otherwise, that is how I will always think.

True, you're probably not likely to stumble over a Bigfoot in the U.K. And speaking of the Patterson film, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that ultimately ruled out as a hoax? Do I recall correctly that one of the people involved in the making of that film confessed that it was a a hoax?
I'm curious about your UFO experience. Will you be sharing that story here? _________________ Gary Val Tenuta

Yes I will. I will post it later, although it's not a close encounter, it made me wonder what is out there.
