Every time we get to thinking that no serious UFO research is being done, someone will step up with a piece of good, thorough investigation. The latest example is the exhaustive report just released on the famous, 2007 Channel Islands UFO sightings in the UK. Here's a link to the 180+ page report:
Kudos to Baure, Clarke, Fuller & Shough for putting this document together. Much of their work may be a little too detailed for the casual UFO enthusiast - but it is exactly the kind of stuff needed to show the scientific community that UFOs are more than just a bizarre sideshow.

I've just finished reading the transcripts of the radio communications, and it brought me out in goose pimples. So 2 aircraft, one of them also had their passengers see those objects, so over 200 people saw them.
I recommend everyone reads that transcipt. It certainly makes you wish you were there.
Also, here is an interview with the pilot who first saw it:
you see that,a mile wide and yellow no less,there getting bolder and bolder,Ill bet that UFO was filled with little alien sightseers. Does anyone ever wonder what the aftermath of these stories are,is the studio inundated with panicked calls from frantic people? I wonder,this pilot seems as if he personally doesnt care to ever see one again.

Dr.Wu,arent you just flabbergasted that this ufo was yellow? I mean yellow it may have well had a neon sign attached to it,you know what this may mean dont cha,this may mean that there not interested in playing cat and mouse anymore,that we earthlings have had long enough to get used to the fact that there here,there was something in your face about this one.

Yellow means nothing. It could have been a trick of the light, sun reflection, color distortion in the atmosphere...anything.

This is the mile-long UFO that the pilot saw from a distance of like 40 miles or something. I wasn't nearly as impressed with the sighting as I was with the serious attempt to do a thorough investigation.
Frankly, the UK has been absolutely awash in UFO sightings this summer but I just can't say that any of them have been particularly compelling. We can tell each other tales of meandering lights in the night sky until we're blue in the face - but until we take the next step, we've added nothing to our collective knowledge. I'm desperate to get us off the dime here - I say we start shooting.

boy I hear you Skep,just shoot one little ufo out of the sky,but that would be the government ordering it to be shot down and they would say it was a stray pigeon that was about to get sucked into a jet engjine,self defense,and the public would be none the wiser.
