A link to the current meeting that took place in Virginia......(I don't place much faith in Alex Jones conspiracy theories but the Bilderberg meetings are certainly a fact. One wonders just what they are talking about ..in private btw with no media coverage ever allowed.)
Maybe they all go to work on their golf games.

I'm just kicking back with an eye on the people attending the meeting and watching for any revelations made that sound unoriginal for that person...

Based on my brief internet study - Hillary and Obama could have been there -- Alex may be correct with his suspicions. His informant definitely affixes their attendance.

I guess, since they are not a duly-elected body of any type, they are exempt for the sunshine laws that require public access to their meetings. But I'm with you - I would surely like to know what the rich and powerful are chatting about nowadays. If they have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo, you'd think they would be a nervous group right about now. On the other hand, if they are positioned in such a way to make a profit from the world going to hell, I'm sure it was Dom Perignon all way round. Sad

I think it would bother everyone that a group of powerful global power brokers control so much in the world via money and economic decisions as well as influence govts. There is also the CFR and RIIA which also have similar agendas.

Why do they not allow public discourse or disclosure of their meetings? The only reason I can think of is because they don't want it known what they are saying behind closed doors.

I thought democracy was about public involvemwent. I guess that has changed or was democracy a joke from the very beginning?

Doc - they are not public bodies - they are private groups. Open meeting laws do not apply to private groups, regardless of their membership or their means.

I think part of democracy is that we sometimes have the right to tell someone to mind their own business. Whether we like it or not, that right applies to these guys too.

Yes 'private' bodies have that right, but these people control the planet..more or less and many that attend are elected and appointed govt officials from the US as well as other democratic nations. If that is not a conflict of interest then I sure as hell don't know what is.
The simple fact remains that anyone/group who meets in secret or private and has so much influence on world affairs means they are not to be trusted.....period.

That's the real conundrum. We see that these are powerful people but, because there is no public record of their activities, it is impossible to lay responsibility for anything good or bad at their feet. So must we assume that they are up to no good? Is it fair to think that the rich and powerful must act in a way that is counter to the public interest? I know this sounds perfectly inane but what if they are like The Justice League? What if they truly are trying to come up with ways to defeat the forces of evil in the world?

Doc - you noticed in the Wiki article that journalists who have been invited to attend Bilderberg meetings have come back with nothing to indicate conspiracy of any kind. Of course, one could say that inviting newsmen to "sanitized" sessions may be part of an attempt to defuse the conspiracy theories. Still, I can't help but thinking of that old saying that goes, "After all is said and done, a lot more was said than done."
