I am more concerned about Warner Cable and other large internet providers who are seriously considering instituting sliding rates based on the amount of bandwidth you consume. I can understand why cable guys want to do this - they have a limited amount of throughput and, as more people get cable modems, response for all users starts to slow-down. Still, this is a tacit way of controlling how we use the Internet. I think I'll stick with DSL. You have your own connection - independent of other users.
As for the Air Force, they would be pretty bored if they took over full control of my computer. Besides, they will never have ultimate control as long as I can pull the plug.

I think it's only a matter of time before the web is controlled just like radio and tv by gubbermint watchdogs. _________________ "Some say the valley has always been haunted ever since River ran.

Have you already thought about who pays all the watch dogs, who are doing no real work?
>> That's why the system is going down: too much people aren't doing a useful work and earn that much money nobody could earn with a serious useful work.
[the latest example was just broadcasted on the news > the deal of Yahoo and Google. They are planing to raise their profits about 800 million $ by cyber advertisemnt. Nothing concrete - no product at all, just cyber. Where are we going???]

Like I said, I think ISPs have a legitimate gripe that some people are bandwidth hogs. In just about everything else, you have to pay for the amount you use. It only makes sense that, if Internet Providers can accurately gauge your usage, they will start to charge for it.
Now, if they could figure out a way to charge spammers, I think I would be all for that. But they are crafty little devils. They will figure out a way to mask their activities and circumvent the extra charges -- and then you know who will be left to pay the tab.
