I like Laurel and Hardy but I think it is sometimes difficult to watch comedy from another era. Our collective senses of humor have changed with the times and, even though their execution is absolutely perfect, L&H routines probably don't play the quite same way they did 75 years ago.
I am a huge fan of the Marx Brothers and still count A Night At The Opera among my all-time favorite films but I find myself getting a little bored when Groucho's not in the frame. I think it is the same situation - golden age comics took a move leisurely pace letting their comedy play out. 21st century people tend to be a bit impatient.
