"It is the first responsibility of every citizen to question authority."
Ben Franklin
Skeptical, Should we make this a sticky?...I think once we get going we might have a lot of quotes. _________________ "Some say the valley has always been haunted ever since River ran.

Whenever ideas fail, men invent words.
(Martin H. Fischer)
Dreams are real as long as they last. Can we say more of life?
(Havelock Ellis)
Real mystics don't hide mysteries - they reveal them. They set a thing up in broad daylight and when you've seen it, it's still a mystery. But the mystagogues hide a thing in darkness and secrecy, and when you find it, it's a platitude.

This is one that I used as the basis of an earlier thread but I think it bears repeating:
“Thinking is skilled work. It is not true that we are naturally endowed with the ability to think clearly and logically — without learning how, or without practicing. People with untrained minds should no more expect to think clearly and logically than people who have never learned and never practiced can expect to find themselves good carpenters, golfers, bridge players, or pianists.” -- Alfred Mander
I think it is particularly apropos considering all of the fuzzy-thinkers that seem to inhabit this strange, ufological world of ours.

Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened.
