One of my favorite writers when I first discovered alternate modes of thinking or different paradigms was Robert Anton Wilson.
Here is an intro comment on his philosphy from one of his best known books Cosmic Trigger.

I wonder how he technically has managed his brain change within these 15 years and I don't want to know the details.
I'd be interested to know, if such a brain change theoretically could happen to everyone or not and if it comes automatically or if it must be induced by something. ( just talking to myself )

Brain change..? I'm not sure what you are saying. Must be that translation thing again.
He's talkng about using different paradigms as we look at reality than the ones we have always used and asssumed were correct.
People get locked into certain models; ie: fundamentalist believer, materialist/rationalist, agnostic, etc . Wilson beleves we should keep open to all possibilities and not attach to just one model of reality since that limits how we look at all things.

Brain change..? I'm not sure what you are saying. Must be that translation thing again.

His 'brain change' probably is referring to psychedelics and eastern meditation/western shamanic techniques as Wilson was a user and proponent of them at that time. I don't think he's referring to actual physical but paradigm and ideological changes.
I have read all of his major books and that is how it comes across to me.

Dr.Wu,
I'm not sure if RAWilsons initiation was induced by psychadellics only. I doubt it.

Briefly, the main thing I learned in my experiments is that "reality" is always plural and mutable. |
Psychadellics may have accompanied this process of "brain change", but IMO his "self-psychotherapy" must have been channeled and intentioned. He said he did it on his own, so that it looks like his "change" was not guided by for example a shaman or so. There are differnt ways to pass through. I am just curious.
I myself have zero experience with psychadellics, so I can't judge at all about them. I only heard they would have different effects on different people, so I better left out that chapter.

I clearly stated in my post the drugs were in conjunction with eastern meditative and western shamanic techniques.
I am very familiar with his writngs. He didn't invent anything but most likely used various mind altering aspects that have been around for many years.
Both eastern and western 'occult' practices are all about self-transformation
BTW, It seems like people are havng reading trouble lately here at Dept 47. Must be a computer problem.
